K La Rock has been behind the decks since 2002. She was one of the co-founders of the First Ladies DJ Collective, an all-female crew dedicated to breaking barriers on and off the dance floor. The First Ladies played host to the long-running Girl Friday dance night at the Black Cat and have been featured in the Washington Post, Washington City Paper and Bust magazine.
Since her First Ladies days, K La Rock has gone on to move crowds in DC, Baltimore, Philly, New York and Detroit at parties, clubs, shows, shops, festivals, benefits, and more weirdo art happenings than she can remember. These days she can be found holding down guest spots around DC and throwing the semi-regular Work the Walls dance night. She loves DJing for grassroots organizations and teaching kids how to spin through Girls Rock! DC. She’s also the lead singer of the band Coup Sauvage & The Snips. Sometimes people hire her to DJ weddings and private events here. Get in touch at info [at] klarock.com.
