About

K La Rock has been burning up dance floors since 2002. As one of the founders of the First Ladies DJ Collective, she worked to put female DJ’s on the map in the nation’s capital and beyond. The group played host to the long-running “Girl Friday” dance night, bringing guests like DJ Rekha and the infamous Crotch Rock and 90′s parties to the Black Cat.

K La Rock has since gone on to rock crowds throughout the East Coast at clubs, parties, festivals, benefits, live shows, and private events. She specializes in all things deep, soulful, and just a little left of center. Her distinct sound brings together vintage boom-bap, Bmore club, classic/nu-disco, electro, future funk, and everything in between.

She’s been featured in the Washington Post, Washington City Paper, Bust magazine, and on Radio CPR 97.5. In the past, she’s used her music to support a range of causes and organizations including Incite!, Sexual Minority Assistance League, National Organization of Women, and Miriam’s House. She currently teaches both private DJ lessons and  group workshops and is a volunteer with Girls Rock! DC.
